Camden Projected and Actual Dates
NCDAC Offender Public Information calls the estimate “Projected Release Date.” It is an administrative projection based on the sentence structure, credit data, and other information then in the record. NCDAC release policy also uses projected release date, or PRD, for the sentence-expiration point commonly called “max out.” That phrase means full sentence service with no parole or post-release reporting left. It does not make every projected date a promise of freedom.
An Actual Release Date records that a release movement occurred. Last Movement and its date help show what kind of event followed. A movement to parole, post-release supervision, sheriff pickup, another prison, or another custodian may all mean the person left one form of confinement without becoming free of every legal restraint. After the event, actual release and movement fields are stronger confirmation than the old projection.
A pretrial detainee is different. Someone awaiting a Camden court result generally has no sentence-based projected release date. Bond, dismissal, plea, judgment, court order, jail credit, and unresolved holds can control the exit. Albemarle District Jail does not publish an individual calculation field, so the jail record and Camden court file are the right local sources.
Find Camden Projected Release Dates
Classify the custodian before searching. A Camden arrest usually leads to Albemarle District Jail, a regional local jail in Elizabeth City. NCDAC expressly excludes county-jail data from its state offender system. A person sent to Pasquotank Correctional Institution or another NCDAC prison is in the statewide system, even if the case began in Camden. Federal and immigration custody require different national sources.
- For state prison, open the NCDAC offender search. Use the offender number if known, or search a name with “All.”
- Open the full record and read Inmate Status separately from Probation/Parole/Post Release Status.
- Review the Projected Release Date, sentence service status, incarceration summary, and any supervision dates.
- After the date passes, check Actual Release Date and Last Movement. A transfer or sheriff pickup is not community release.
- For a sentenced person at Albemarle District Jail, ask for the existing release calculation or release record and compare it with the Camden judgment.
- For a pretrial detainee, check the court event, bond conditions, and other holds with the jail. Do not estimate a sentence date that does not exist.
The Camden County released inmate lookup gives the full records path when the custodian is uncertain. Keep county-jail release, state-prison discharge, federal release, and ICE transfer separate. A date from the wrong system can look precise while answering the wrong question.

Camden NCDAC Release Date Fields
A full OPI record contains several layers. The observed Camden release example showed an inactive incarceration record and active supervision together. It also displayed projected and actual release dates, last movement, a supervision office, and sentence or parole dates. That combination is a released-to-supervision record, not a contradiction.

Camden Release Credits and Minimums
North Carolina Structured Sentencing applies to offenses committed on or after October 1, 1994. The Commission explains that the main cohort must serve 100 percent of the minimum and 85 percent of the maximum before release to post-release supervision. That statement is often misread. It does not authorize a simple 15 percent subtraction from any sentence.
G.S. 15A-1340.13(d) sets the floor. Earned time may reduce the maximum term but never below the judicial minimum. NCDAC policy allows eligible modern misdemeanants up to four earned-time days per month and eligible felons up to nine, based on assignment or program levels. Disciplinary violations can cause forfeiture. The current state record and agency calculation control.
For covered felons, post-release supervision can begin before the maximum term ends. G.S. 15A-1368.2 generally uses the maximum less twelve months for Class B1 through E and less nine months for Class F through I, less earned time, with a separate sixty-month provision for certain sentences. Community supervision is still part of the sentence framework. Projected prison release and final sentence termination are distinct dates.
Older “good time” follows different rules and should not be used as a name for all credits. NCDAC policy treats good, earned, meritorious, and discretionary time as separate categories with distinct eligibility and limits. No public calculator can safely replace the official sentence record.
Camden Jail Release Calculations
G.S. 148-13 directs NCDAC to set credit rates and circumstances, and it states that applicable rules are distributed to local jail administrators for sentenced jail prisoners. That statute does not publish Albemarle District Jail’s calculation for a named person. A Camden local sentence can be affected by pretrial credit, the judgment, amended court orders, consecutive cases, and holds from another agency.
Ask ADJ for the existing release calculation or release record rather than asking staff to create a new forecast. Include the full name, date of birth if known, Camden arresting agency, approximate booking date, case or booking number, and the exact field sought. Then compare the response with the court judgment. North Carolina public-record law does not require an agency to build a custom report, so a request for an existing record is more precise.
A bond order is not a projected sentence date. Camden magistrates set initial release conditions, but ADJ performs the physical release only after the condition and all other holds clear. The payment or order time can differ from the door-exit time. Ask the jail whether the event was community release, another-county pickup, NCDAC transfer, or a federal or immigration handoff.

Why Camden Release Dates Change
A projected date can move because the data behind it changes. Credits may be earned or forfeited. Staff may correct sentence information, apply jail credit, add a consecutive sentence, or process a court order. A warrant, detainer, or revocation can change both timing and destination. “Detainer” means a request by another authority to hold or transfer the person after the current custody event.

NCDAC policy says staff try to move a person near the planned residence roughly fourteen days before release. The listed institution can therefore change shortly before PRD. A prison release movement can also lead straight to county custody on a pending charge. Confirm the actual release field, last movement, destination, and any receiving-jail record before calling the event community release.
Camden Weekend Release Date Rules
NCDAC normally processes state-prison releases Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Its credit and release policies allow discretionary time to advance a weekend or holiday PRD to the prior weekday, but never below the minimum-term floor. If the minimum prevents the normal adjustment, an exception may be needed. These are state-prison procedures. They are not published Albemarle District Jail hours.
This rule explains why a projected state date and the actual movement date can differ without an error. It also shows why family plans should follow official confirmation. The release unit must clear sentence data, warrants, other sentences, and destination issues before departure. A projected Friday, Saturday, or holiday date is not enough to promise a pickup time.
North Carolina’s dedicated Inmate Release Search adds a useful after-the-fact check. It filters state-prison releases by county, year, and month and shows name, offender number, release date, primary offense, and release type. Selecting Camden means the state record’s release county. It does not turn the result into an ADJ release list.
Confirm Camden Release Date Changes
Use the correct source at each stage. NCDAC OPI is the record for state-prison projection, actual release, movement, and supervision. Albemarle District Jail and the Camden court hold the local release calculation and legal event. NC SAVAN/VINELink can provide a timely alert, but it is not a certified discharge record. The federal BOP locator and ICE ODLS apply only when those custodians are involved.
For a pending alert, the Camden County VINE inmate check explains registration and the phone PIN process. After an alert, verify the release type and destination with the originating office. “Release with supervision” confirms a custody change, while a transfer destination may show that confinement continued elsewhere.
Records can update on different schedules. If the actual date appears but the movement text is unclear, save the offender number and ask NCDAC which recorded movement closed the incarceration episode. For a local sentence, give ADJ the booking and Camden case identifiers so staff can distinguish the current booking from an older stay. This is especially useful when the same name appears in more than one case or when a release order and physical departure occurred on different days.
